Adding your first property
Properties are the foundation of ScoutzOS. Every lease, tenant, and transaction ties back to a property record. Here is how to add your first one.
Step 1: Open the Properties section
From your dashboard, click "Properties" in the left sidebar. Then click the "Add Property" button in the top right corner.
Step 2: Enter property details
Fill in the required fields:
- Property name for your internal reference (e.g., "Maple Street Duplex")
- Address including street, city, state, and ZIP code
- Property type such as single-family, multi-family, or commercial
- Year built and square footage (optional but recommended)
Step 3: Add units
If your property has multiple units, click "Add Unit" for each one. For each unit, specify:
- Unit name or number (e.g., "Unit A" or "101")
- Bedrooms and bathrooms
- Target rent amount
For single-family homes, ScoutzOS creates one default unit automatically.
Step 4: Upload photos
Add property and unit photos to help with listing and documentation. Drag and drop images or click to browse your files.
Step 5: Save and review
Click "Save Property" to finalize. You will see your new property on the Properties page with all units listed.
Next steps
With your property added, you can create a lease, set up rent collection, or invite team members to help manage it.
